"I have participated in 3 workshops with Willie, 2 in Ottawa and one in New York. What keeps bringing me back is the passion and excitement that Willie exudes for the art of photography, his patience and endless capacity to teach and his genuine commitment to enabling his students' becoming better photographers. Each time I do a workshop with Willie, I have grown in my understanding, in the quality of my work, and in my desire to do even better. I highly recommend participating in his workshops."

New York City Photo Workshop
"A photo shoot in New York was an opportunity to improve my skills, and I did just that, in all kinds of weather, with a variety of subjects, in the misty mornings, sunsets from the Rockefeller Centre and Brooklyn Bridge, and after the rain on Broadway. With a small group and two teachers, daily reviews of the photos taken made for an enjoyable trip. I came away feeling I had learned from both the teachers and other participants and proud of the photos I had taken.

All is organized, a place to stay, transportation to sites of interest with maps and information about the area….all I had to do was capture the sights and pulse of New York on film. William and John had advice to improve my photos and viewing of the day’s work brought compliments too. I learned new things and was very satisfied with the experience having captured many wonderful sights and having enjoyed the other participants. "

Oaxaca, Mexico Photo Workshop
" The trip to Oaxaca, Mexico, was an experience like no other. With the assistance of John and William, I learned about the people, the country and customs while taking photos. I even ate grasshoppers with a cold Corona! It was the end of October and the celebration of the Day of the Dead, an event previously unknown to me. What memories I have of this trip on film."

One of the things I greatly appreciated about my first experience on a photo
tour/workshop (NYC '06) with Willie and John Hewett Hallum, was how the two of them really challenged everyone in our group to "play".

Their ability to educate with encouragement was very supportive. Furthermore, their willingness to answer my questions and inspire me to experiment with my camera, has made me a better photographer.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience the few days we were in Manhattan, and would highly recommend one of Willie's workshops.

As a frequent participant of the workshops, both local and on tour, the aspect that most appeals to me (aside from the venues) is that both Willie and John are dedicated teachers. They encourage development of the photographer's personal vision while supporting the student both technically and artistically.
